Am 6. Mai organisieren wir im Haus der Statistik die Veranstaltung ABOLITIONISMUS JETZT! Wir wollen Abolitionist:innen versammeln als Gegenveranstaltung zum Europäischen Polizeikongress, der in den Tagen davor in unserer Stadt stattfindet.

Abolitionismus jetzt! Aber wie?

Als Abolitionist:innen wollen wir das “System Polizei” nicht reformieren, sondern abschaffen. Unser Ziel ist nicht primär das Verschwinden von Polizei, Gefängnissen, Lagern, etc., sondern vielmehr eine radikale Transformation der Gesellschaft, die das komplette #Polizeiproblem überflüssig macht.

Doch wie geht Abolitionismus?
Welche Perspektiven, Forderungen und Praxen verbinden uns? Wie können wir uns im abolitionistischen Sinne organisieren?

Auf unserer Veranstaltung möchten wir diese Fragen gemeinsam mit euch diskutieren. Euch erwarten verschiedene Workshops, Zeit und Raum für gemeinsame Reflektion der Praxis, eine Ausstellung, eine abschließende Abendveranstaltung und natürlich gutes Essen. Unsere Hoffnung ist es, einen Kristallisationspunkt für eine Bewegung zu organisieren, die für eine Welt ohne Polizei kämpft.

On May 6 at the Haus der Statistik in Berlin, please join ABOLITIONISMUS JETZT! („ABOLITION NOW!“), an anti-policing counter-event to the revolting, closed-door „European Police Congress“ taking place in our city a few days earlier.

Abolition now! But how?

As abolitionists, we want to abolish police and prisons, because we know this so-called „justice“ system cannot be reformed. Our work, however, does not only pursue the end of police, prisons, camps, etc. in Germany; rather, we seek a radical transformation of society that will make the entire #PolizeiProblem obsolete. We want to co-create a future that offers real safety to everyone—especially our community members who have been relentlessly targeted and oppressed by the police, such as refugees, BIPOC folks, FLINTA*, disabled people, and the unhoused.

But how can abolition work?
What perspectives, demands, and practices connect us?
What does it mean to organize as „abolitionists“ in Germany?

At ABOLITIONISMUS JETZT!, we will explore these questions and more, together with different groups, initiatives, and individuals. Expect workshops, time and space for joint reflection on practice, an exhibition, theater, tasty food, and a closing evening event.
