Aufruhr, Widerstand, Meuterei

[English below]

Aufruhr, Widerstand, Meuterei

On 25.3. at 8 am , our neighboor project the Meuterei is to be cleared by a bailiff. After a long struggle, now facts are to be created with the help of the cops. For over 11 years the Meuterei has been a collectively organized meeting place for people in our neighborhood. A place for political discussions, a place where you could find radical texts and a facade full of posters. A place where we knew you’d get help if you got attacked, a bar where the barkeepers were raiging against wage labor, the cops had to realize more than once that they weren’t allowed in, and we philosophized about the injustices of the world in cigarette smoke until dawn.

Another free space in our neighborhood, which is to be erased from the map of hip Kreuzberg. We are not only neighboors united by the same street name, but also longtime friends, organizers of the info evenings, visitors of the lectures and companions in the struggle for a life that tries to escape this transformation of the cities as long as possible.

Where once there was space for low-income people, today people stand in line for gluten-free croissants and Aperol Spritz to-go. The „rebellious“ and „alternative“ flair of this neighborhood is played with and used for their own purposes, but it is only wanted in order to give all these individualistic life concepts of the start-up generation the appearance of still living the alternative and subcultural lifestyle. Instead, the actual life in the neighborhood is supposed to be quiet and controllable. The neighborhoods are supposed to „function“ according to the concepts of neighborhood management, think tanks and urban sociologists. In reality a truly resistant and rebellious life is suppressed here.

Last year we already fought for two autonomous projects, the Liebig 34 and the Syndikat. These attacks on our movement and the losses of spaces make us sad, but most of all, they make us angry. The people living in Liebig 34 were tossed out on the street during the Corona Pandemic in October, only to guarantee the owners property rights. With the Syndicate, an important part as a resistant structure in an otherwise already thoroughly gentrified neighborhood was lost. But the collectives continue to exist and their ideas will find new places. Their anger and the people who live these ideas are among us and our ideas of a different society cannot be evicted.

Only in the streets can we fight against the developments in this city.
Together we will defend the Meuterei, as well as the other threatened projects.
Organize yourselves in affinity groups, come with us to the streets on march 25th. and the days before and after.
Let’s fight together for a different city and a better tomorrow!
Let’s join in the numerous actions and beyond.

23.03. | Tue. | 6 p.m. | Meuterei (Reichenberger 58) | Demo
25.03. | Thu. | 6 o’clock | Herrfurthplatz | Demo
