After months of intense collective work, we are happy to invite you to the opening of ABERRANTE.

In times when digital isolation and extreme control over public spaces are at the center of the state’s agenda, we see an encounter with books in a library as an encounter with others. An encounter with different ideas. We hope that the library will grow into a space of constant exchange, and that moments of self-reflection will also be moments of connection with others.

That is why, from the very beginning, we have invited you all to help build this library collectively by donating books. We hope that every book in the library will serve as a means to challenge our comfort zones, to engage in self-criticism, and to sow new fields of thistles.

Like any large city, Berlin tends to give rise to separatist tendencies and to define centers where much activity is concentrated. When we think of political spaces and events, the vast majority takes place in just a few neighborhoods, of which Wedding is not necessarily one. However, Wedding is a neighborhood where many feminists live in, and projects take place. Opening a library here means building solidarity from the private, reclaiming public space, and reshaping the political through meeting each other. Berlin is home to a wide range of feminist struggles, and we would like ABERRANTE to serve as an excuse to come together despite the alienating dynamics that this city tries to impose on us.

Here we see the potential of a neighborhood that still has a vibrant social fabric. A working-class neighboorhood where solidarity and anarchxfeminist ideas take on meaning through building connections, inhabiting our everyday spaces, and self-defending against patriarchy.

We see ourselves as anarchxfeminists today, building on past struggles and histories that still feel present. We do so by engaging in discussions about our disagreements. Above all, we would like to build ourselves as part of the existing social fabric. For this reason, we envision the Library as a space for coming together. A place where other complicities and affinities can emerge. A place where labels or broad terms are not a tacit agreement but rather a constant collective effort reaffirmed through practice, mutual care, and everyday solidarity. We find ourselves belonging to that part of society that is deemed “other,” that is alien to power, that is understood as ABERRANTE.

In that same line, we see ourselves as just one more project among the many (fortunately) that exist in town, and among those that will hopefully come. We consider ourselves comrades of the other anarchist libraries, through our agreements and disagreements. We are grateful for the exchanges that have been possible so far and, above all, for the support we’ve received from those who were genuinely happy to see an anarchxfeminist library come to Wedding.

Not everything has been a positive experience, and even if only briefly, it’s important for us to mention that the last few years haven’t been easy in this city. We’ve found ourselves discussing the same patriarchal ideas over and over again, with some people refusing to acknowledge them.

We don’t believe that ABERRANTE can be oblivious to this. On the contrary, we want it to be a place where there is no fear of discussing anti-punitive feminism. A place where we can address structural issues that transcend us but also include us. A place where we can discuss social dynamics and personal attitudes, with all our contradictions, but without downplaying the former or focusing solely on the latter.

For us, anarchxfeminism is a constant practice. It is care in our relationships. It is understanding differences without competing for positions or places, it is to fight against heteronormativity and binarism. And therein lies our connection with those anarchist or feminist projects and comrades who understand that anti-patriarchal struggles are at the heart of a search for different worlds. That anti-colonialism is the root of our feminism. And that cooperation with the state will never be an option, because the state does not represent us.

Our hope is that the Library will grow thanks to the contributions of everyone who wants to further anarchist and feminist practices of dialogue, discussion, and pleasure. This is an invitation to you, to your music, your concerns, your crafts, your games, your laughter, and your rage.

Nach Monaten intensiver gemeinsamer Arbeit freuen wir uns, euch zur Eröffnung von ABERRANTE einzuladen.

In Zeiten, in denen digitale Isolation und extreme Kontrolle über den öffentlichen Raum ganz oben auf der Agenda des Staates stehen, sehen wir die Begegnung mit Büchern in einer Bibliothek als Begegnung mit anderen Menschen. Als Begegnung mit unterschiedlichen Ideen. Wir hoffen, dass sich die Bibliothek zu einem Ort des ständigen Austauschs entwickelt und dass Momente der Selbstreflexion auch Momente der Verbindung mit anderen sind.

Deshalb haben wir euch alle von Anfang an dazu eingeladen, durch Buchspenden gemeinsam am Aufbau dieser Bibliothek mitzuwirken. Wir hoffen, dass jedes Buch in der Bibliothek dazu dient, unsere Komfortzonen zu hinterfragen, Selbstkritik zu üben und neue Felder aus Disteln zu säen.

Wie jede Großstadt neigt auch Berlin dazu, separatistische Tendenzen hervorzubringen und Zentren zu definieren, in denen sich ein Großteil der Aktivitäten konzentriert. Wenn wir an politische Räume und Veranstaltungen denken, findet der überwiegende Teil davon in nur wenigen Kiezen statt, zu denen Wedding nicht unbedingt gehört. Dennoch ist Wedding ein Viertel, in dem viele Feminist*innen leben und Projekte stattfinden. Eine Bibliothek hier zu eröffnen bedeutet, Solidarität aus dem Privaten heraus aufzubauen, den öffentlichen Raum zurückzuerobern und das Politische durch gegenseitige Begegnung neu zu gestalten. Berlin ist die Heimat einer Vielzahl feministischer Kämpfe, und wir möchten, dass ABERRANTE als Anlass dient, trotz der entfremdenden Dynamiken, die diese Stadt uns aufzuzwingen versucht, zusammenzukommen.

Hier erkennen wir das Potenzial eines Kiezes, welcher noch immer über ein lebendiges soziales Gefüge verfügt. Ein Arbeiter*innenkiez, in dem Solidarität und anarchxfeministische Ideen durch den Aufbau von Verbindungen, die Gestaltung unserer Alltagsräume und die Selbstverteidigung gegen das Patriarchat Bedeutung erlangen.

Wir verstehen uns heute als Anarchxfeminist*innen und bauen dabei auf vergangenen Kämpfen und Geschichten auf, die sich noch immer präsent anfühlen. Das tun wir, indem wir Diskussionen über unsere Uneinigkeiten führen. Vor allem möchten wir uns als Teil des bestehenden sozialen Gefüges verstehen. Aus diesem Grund stellen wir uns die Bibliothek als einen Raum des Zusammenkommens vor. Einen Ort, an dem andere Kompliz*innenschaften und Affinitäten entstehen können. Ein Ort, an dem Bezeichnungen oder weit gefasste Begriffe keine stillschweigende Übereinkunft darstellen, sondern vielmehr eine ständige kollektive Anstrengung, die durch Praxis, gegenseitige Fürsorge und alltägliche Solidarität bekräftigt wird. Wir fühlen uns jenem Teil der Gesellschaft zugehörig, der als „anders“ gilt, der der Macht fremd ist, der als ABERRANTE verstanden wird.

In diesem Sinne verstehen wir uns als nur eines von vielen (glücklicherweise existierenden) Projekten, die es in der Stadt gibt, und als eines von denen, die hoffentlich noch entstehen werden. Wir betrachten uns als Kompliz*innen der anderen anarchistischen Bibliotheken, durch all unsere Gemeinsamkeiten und trotz all unserer Uneinigkeiten. Wir sind dankbar für den Austausch, der bisher möglich war, und vor allem für die Unterstützung, die wir von jenen erhalten haben, die sich aufrichtig darüber gefreut haben, dass eine anarchxfeministische Bibliothek nach Wedding gekommen ist.

Nicht alles war eine positive Erfahrung, und auch wenn es nur kurz ist, ist es uns wichtig zu erwähnen, dass die letzten Jahre in dieser Stadt nicht einfach waren. Wir haben festgestellt, dass wir immer wieder dieselben patriarchalen Vorstellungen diskutieren mussten, wobei sich manche Menschen sogar weigerten, diese anzuerkennen.

Wir glauben nicht, dass ABERRANTE davon frei seien kann. Im Gegenteil: Wir möchten, dass es ein Ort ist, an dem man ohne Angst über einen anti-bestrafenden Feminismus diskutieren kann. Ein Ort, an dem wir strukturelle Probleme ansprechen können, die über uns hinausgehen, uns aber auch einbeziehen. Ein Ort, an dem wir soziale Dynamiken und persönliche Haltungen diskutieren können – mit all unseren Widersprüchen –, ohne jedoch Ersteres herunterzuspielen oder uns ausschließlich auf Letzteres zu konzentrieren.

Für uns ist Anarchxfeminismus eine ständige Praxis. Es bedeutet Fürsorge in unseren Beziehungen. Es bedeutet, Unterschiede zu verstehen, ohne um Positionen oder Plätze zu konkurrieren; es bedeutet, gegen Heteronormativität und Binarismus zu kämpfen. Und darin liegt unsere Verbindung zu jenen anarchistischen oder feministischen Projekten und Genoss*innen, die verstehen, dass antipatriarchale Kämpfe im Zentrum der Suche nach anderen Welten stehen. Dass Antikolonialismus die Wurzel unseres Feminismus ist. Und dass eine Zusammenarbeit mit dem Staat niemals eine Option sein wird, weil der Staat uns nicht vertritt.

Wir hoffen, dass die Bibliothek dank der Beiträge all jener wachsen wird, die anarchistische und feministische Praktiken des Dialogs, der Diskussion und des Vergnügens fördern wollen. Dies ist eine Einladung an euch, an eure Musik, eure Anliegen, euer Kunsthandwerk, eure Spiele, euer Lachen und eure Wut.

Wir hoffen, dass dies möglich ist.

Tras meses de intenso trabajo colectivo, estamos felices de invitarles a la apertura de ABERRANTE.

En tiempos donde el aislamiento digital y el control extremo de los espacios públicos están en el centro de la agenda estatal, vemos el encuentro con libros en una biblioteca como un encuentro con otres. Un encuentro con diferentes ideas. Esperamos que la biblioteca crezca como un espacio de intercambio constante, y que los momentos de encuentro con une misme sean también momentos de encuentro con otres.

Por eso nuestra invitación desde el comienzo a construir esta biblioteca colectivamente desde las donaciones de todes ustedes. Esperamos que cada libro en la biblioteca sea un medio para la confrontación con nuestras zonas de confort, para la autocrítica y para sembrar nuevos campos de cardos.

Berlín, como toda ciudad grande, tiende a generar lógicas separatistas y delimitar centros en lo que se concentra mucha actividad. Cuando pensamos en espacios y eventos políticos, la gran cantidad del intercambio transcurre en muy pocos barrios, de los que Wedding no forma parte necesariamente. Sin embargo, Wedding es el barrio que muchas feministas elegimos para vivir y hacer nuestros proyectos. Abrir una biblioteca aquí significa construir complicidad desde lo privado, reclamar el espacio público y reconfigurar lo político desde el encuentro. Berlín tiene una inmensa cantidad de luchas feministas y nos gustaría que ABERRANTE sea una excusa para encontrarse en la alienante dinámica que esta ciudad trata de imponernos.
Vemos aquí el potencial de un barrio que sigue teniendo un tejido social vivo. Un barrio que tiene un carácter de clase trabajadora y solidaridad entre vecinas y en el que las ideas anarchxfeministas cobran sentido desde el construir lazos, habitar el espacio cotidiano y autodefendernos de las lógicas patriarcales.

Nos entendemos anarchxfeministas hoy en continuidad con luchas anteriores e historias que aún se sienten presentes. Desde la capacidad de discutir los desacuerdos. Sobre todo, nos gustaría construirnos como parte del tejido ya existente. Por ello, pensamos la biblioteca como un espacio de encuentro. Donde otras complicidades y afinidades surjan. Donde las etiquetas o grandes términos no sean un acuerdo tácito, sino un constante hacer conjunto que se reafirme desde la práctica, el cuidado mutuo y la solidaridad cotidiana. Encontrarnos en la pertenencia a esa parte de la sociedad que deviene en otredad, que resulta ajena al poder, que se entiende ABERRANTE.

En esa misma línea, es que nos entendemos como un proyecto más de los muchos (por suerte) que hay en la ciudad, y de los que ojalá vendrán. Nos entendemos, compañeres de las otras bibliotecas anarquistas, desde los acuerdos y desacuerdos. Estamos agradecidas de los intercambios hasta ahora posibles y sobre todo del apoyo que recibimos de quienes genuinamente se alegraron de que una biblioteca anarchxfeminsta llegue a Wedding.

No todas son buenas experiencias, y aun cuando de manera breve, es importante para nosotras nombrar que los últimos años no fueron fáciles en la ciudad. Que nos encontramos una y otra vez discutiendo las mismas ideas patriarcales desde la negación de algunes.

No creemos que ABERRANTE pueda ser ajena a eso; de lo contrario, queremos que sea un lugar donde no haya miedo de hablar de un feminismo antipunitivista. Donde no haya miedo de tematizar problemáticas estructurales que nos trascienden, pero nos incluyen. Discutir con todas nuestras contradicciones, dinámicas sociales y actitudes personales, sin relativizar las primeras ni centrarnos únicamente en las últimas.

El anarcofeminismo para nosotras es una práctica constante. Es cuidado en las relaciones. Es comprensión de las diferencias sin competir por puestos o lugares; es luchar contra la heteronormatividad y el binarismo. Y es ahí donde nos encontraremos con esos proyectos y compas anarquistas o feministas que entiendan que las luchas antripatriarcales están en el centro de una búsqueda por mundos diferentes. Que el anticolonialismo es la raíz de nuestro feminismo. Y que la cooperación con el estado jamás será una opción, porque no nos representa.

Nuestro deseo es que la Biblioteca crezca gracias al aporte de todes quienes quieran incrementar las prácticas anárquicas y feministas del diálogo, la discusión y el placer. Esta es una invitación a ustedes, a su música, a sus preocupaciones, a sus artesanías, a sus juegos, a sus risas y a su rabia.
