Some months ago we started dreaming of the possibility of an Anarchxfeminist library in Berlin. The idea rapidly turned into a project as we got a nice space in Wedding (Schererstr. 8) where to make it concrete. We are thinking of opening the library at some point in spring of this year, for which we are now collecting donations with this party. Since a library needs books, the entry to the party is a book you wish others to find in the library! (Of course, you won’t get rejected at the door for not bringing a book or not having enough money.)
Our idea of an Anarchxfeminist library comes from the wish of having a space where different feminist struggles can find place in the city. For us having taking the path of Anarchism means knowing and respecting other ways of thinking and political ideas. We do not see anarchism in isolation and therefore understand that our positions have been molded by many other political positions and importantly include positions, like anti-colonial, trans and queer feminism. In this regard is also important for us to say that we do not embrace our ideas as only inspired by essays, but we understand that fiction, poetry, historical texts, graphic novels, comics etc. all play an important role in how we can see this world and dream of new ones.
We would like to make the library from the beginning a space open to discussion, a place where different opinions can find each other.
